Lobster. Noodles. Garden Restaurant has Lobster Lo Mein ($52) that will melt in your mouth. It's not the cheapest, but it was delicious. The juicy lobster fell off of the shell and integrated fantastically with the thick noodles. The yam leaves ($22.98) came in a huge portion. They were very fragrant!

If you're looking for a seafood spot in Chinatown, this is your place! Spacious restaurant with lots of large tables that are great for hosting large family/friend gatherings. There's Portsmouth Square garage right across the street if you're looking for parking. Lobster with e-fu noodle is one of my favorite Cantonese dishes and Garden makes a great one - noodles have a great bounce and soak up the lobster broth nicely. The lobster is cooked in the classic ginger scallion stir fry slurry. We also ordered the yam leaves, which were nice and garlicky.

Pleasantly surprised by the food here. It was quite good food after a a couple drinks out. There is something special about the salt and pepper wings, which is some of the crunchiest Chinese-style ribs I've ever had. We also had the combination fried rice and minced duck lettuce wrap. Great place to dine! It's clean and dishes are played well.

Best Chinese food I have ever had on my 47 years in this planet. I can't get over the bad reviews based on the food. Flavor, freshness and good portions. Highly recommended and so glad the place we planned to eat was closed. PS this place was full of local Chinese patrons. That says something about the authenticity and quality. Thank you Garden for such an experience dining experience and great service.

Delicious and recommended! Rice plate of prawns with tofu from dinner set menu. It also comes with a veggie spring roll and soup of the day.

Ate here in a Saturday night and it was very sad to see the lack of customers inside the restaurant. Not sure if it was just the day or this is the new norm but this restaurant always has DELICIOUS food. We got the set menu and it again did not disappoint. The meats and seafood always taste very fresh. The fried shrimp dish was so tasty, perfectly fried. The whole steamed fish was also excellent, perfectly steamed. The duck is also pretty good. I can't remember the specifics of each dish we had but the quality is there and I wish the restaurant had more customers. Hopefully it survives...

Great place to eat. Free 2 hour parking at Portsmouth square for the month of Feb 2024. Food is decent, always crowded. The owners daughter owns boba butt which can be seen inside the restaurant and will open again later.

TLDR: Solid Chinese food right by Portsmouth Square. I come here regularly for their veggies. Fast service and kind waiters. Their pea shoots are excellent and fresh here. ------ FOOD: 1. Pea Shoots (5/5) - fresh and huge portions 2. Boiled chicken (4.5/5) - tastes much better than it sounds, classic dish, we got a half serving and it's definitely good for 2-3 people. It comes with a nice ginger sauce. 3. Fried sesame balls with red bean paste (4.5/5) - small but really nicely fried! 4. Corn egg drop soup (4.5/5) - delicious, ever so slightly sweet but not too sweet 5. Bitter melon with chicken (4/5) - crunchier bitter melon 6. Bitter melon (3.5/5) - the bitter melon in this dish is actually softer ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * Casual restaurant, plenty of tables inside so no need to make a reservation * There are both smaller tables for 2-4 and much bigger round tables for large groups ------ SERVICE: * Really great service! They gave us complementary corn egg drop soups at the beginning and fried sesame balls at the end. The waitress who served us was very smiley and checked in on us a couple times to make sure everything was good

Garden Restaurant is a casual Cantonese Chinese restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown. It has been there a while and several family members recommended it. We came for dinner. The food was solid, prices resonably, portion size on the larger size. This isn't gourmet HL Peninsula! Service was better than drop and go at many spots. Safety Pluses - Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering. Food Review: Peking Duck ($28.98 half) comes with steamed buns and is more Cantonese style with lots of boney meat underneath. Solid flavor. 8/10 Pan Fried Rice Noodles with Giant Surf Clams & Yellow Chives ($23.98) has nice crispy rice on top and tender rice noodles and seafood below. 8.5/10 Braised Fried Tofu with Shitake Mushroom & Bok Choy ($16) is great for vegetarians. Nice black mushrooms. Starchy sauce. 9/10 Sauteed Eggplant & String bean with XO Sauce ($16.98) is also a good vegetarian dish. Ample quantities of a mixture of different veggies. 8.5/10 Free sesame balls for dessert Overall - Very Good Food - Very Good Decor - Good Service - Good Value - Good Would we come back - Yes
